Saumur, home to the Cadre Noir, the École Nationale d'Équitation (National School of Horsemanship)is also well known for the Saumur International 3 Day Event.
In 2012 the CCI *** of Saumur will play an important part in team selection for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The CIC** of Saumur also allows competitors to obtain, under certain conditions, the necessary qualifications to compete at the 3 stars level.
The event is located on the 150 acre property of the racecourse of Verrie – Saumur approximately 3 hours from Paris
For the CCI***, the course on uneven ground, is about 5 600 meters long, and includes 28 single and combination obstacles making about 40 efforts. This distance has to be done at a speed of 570 m/minute. Course designers Pierre Michelet and Thierry Touzaint have created challenging courses for this year and over half of the obstacles are new
