It was a special night for several well known identities in the eventing world as they were presented with their awards by the FEI President, Ingmar de Vos at the Equestrian Australia Sport Awards Night in Melbourne.
Young Queensland rider Isabel English won the Barastoc Horse Young Athlete of the Year while Shane Rose, who was unfortunately not present due to injury, won the Ariat Domestic Athlete of the Year.
Pollyann Huntington, who has played a pivotal role in developing the young eventing talent in Western Australia and officiates around the world, received the Gow-Gates Official of the Year award and there were three new eventing inductees into the Equestrian Australia Hall of Fame, recognising those who have made the sport and inspire the next generations. These were Neale Lavis for the Individual Achievement category, Darien Powers, owned by Bob Scarborough and ridden by Andrew Hoy in the Outstanding Horse category and the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games Eventing Team in the teams’ category
