One of our favourite eventers, Heath Ryan is also well known for his great auctions with talented young stock and riding horses. The next Auction of the Stars is coming up from 14-15th December at Ryans at Newcastle Equestrian Centre, Heatherbrae NSW and one horse for sale caught our eye.
We’ve recently seen Heath at events with Hygain GI Jo and think he looks lovely. Here is a little bit more about him from the catalogue
“Hygain GI Jo performed very well with his young rider Raquel Corbett coming 5th at the Werribee CIC2* in 2010. Hygain GI Jo was then sold and used as a schoolmaster for a couple of years before returning to competition with Heath Ryan in the saddle.
Jo’s first start back was at Camden Equestriad in September 2013. He was entered in the pre-novice or EV105 class and placed 5th. Jo immediately moved up to 1* at Scone CNC in October 2013. He was 6th in the class. Jo then went to the NSW State Eventing Championships at Goulburn in mid-October 2013 and came 4th in the CIC 1*. This was in a field of 27 starters.
Hygain GI Jo does a really nice dressage test scoring over 70%. Interestingly enough, Jo has really nice, clean, straight flying changes. As a show jumper Jo has lots of scope and is very careful. Jo and Heath have gone to some straight show-jumping shows and placed in the 1.20m classes. Cross country, Jo is very straightforward and also quite creative in terms of helping the rider out if the distance is less than perfect.
Jo is naturally very quiet and can be ridden by a very inexperienced rider as well as responding very positively to an experienced rider. This is a very nice horse that is on his way up and is a serious competition proposition”
