The FEI Bureau Meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland on the 9th June has approved the continuation of the FEI Classics™ and FEI Nations Cup™ Eventing through 2016 with a new event in the USA also being added to the 2016 Nations Cup calendar

Other eventing specific items included an update on the Audit of Eventing, to be finalised by the end of the year, from the Technical Committee and confirmation that the 2017 FEI European Eventing Championship for Young Riders and Juniors is to be held at Millstreet in Ireland (dates TBC)

The FEI European Pony Championships were held at Millstreet in 2014 with the show jumping and dressage competitions taking place at the 350-acre Green Glens equestrian complex, which includes a 10-acre spread of all-weather arenas.  The show-stealer however was the brand new cross-country course designed by Mike Etherington-Smith who got a standing ovation after a fantastic day of sport over the spectacular track at neighbouring Drishane Castle.

Following the event Ground Jury member, Ireland’s James Rooney, was full of praise for the new course “Everyone is talking about the cross-country course, I’ve already described it as a “Badminton for ponies!” he said and it was announced that the venue owners, the Duggan family, were aiming to submit a bid to stage the 2022 FEI World Equestrian Games™.
