Fatal accident at Seville

A fatal fall on course at the Alegra Rancho Eventing Tour de Utrera –Sevilla in Spain has claimed the life of Portugese rider Francisco Seabra. 30 year old Francisco and his gelding Aferzysta fell at the final element of fence 10, a water combination, at 12.30 on Friday 14th February. The horse was uninjured in the fall.

Paramedics attended to Francisco immediately but he was declared dead at the scene at the accident.

An experienced rider, Francisco represented Portugal riding Zathargo at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Normandy.

President of the Ground Jury, Mr Alain James said "On behalf of all the sports world, I would like to extend my heartfelt considerations to the family of Mr. Francisco Seabra"

The FEI is conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of the tragic accident.
