FEI Board Meeting Resolutions – Eventing

 

The Eventing Calendar Task Force held its first videoconference meeting on 24th April and agreed proposals that went forward to an extraordinary FEI Board virtual meeting on Monday 27th April.

The Eventing group is one of the eight discipline-specific task forces created by the FEI to evaluate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the FEI Calendar and propose ways of mitigating its effects.

The meeting was chaired by FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibáñez, who has overall responsibility for the FEI Calendar and who is chairing each of the discipline Task Forces. The members who joined today’s videoconference were FEI Vice Presidents Mark Samuel (CAN) and Jack Huang (TPE), Chair of the FEI Eventing Committee David O’Connor (USA), European Equestrian Federation representative Mike Etherington-Smith (GBR), Eventing Athletes’ Representative William Fox-Pit (GBR) and Peter Bollen (BEL), President of the Equestrian Organisers (formerly International Equestrian Organisers Association - IEOA).

The FEI Eventing Director, FEI Calendar Administrator and representatives of the FEI IT, Legal and Governance departments were also on the call.

The main topics discussed by the group included:

  • Deadlines and date clash rules for the FEI Calendar 2020
  • Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and MER Events in 2020 & 2021
  • CCIO 2020
  • Five-star Events 2020
  • FEI Championships 2020 & 2021
  • Fees & costs

At the FEI Board extraordinary meeting on 27th April 2020 to review proposals from six of the discipline-specific Calendar Task Forces, the FEI Board agreed that discussions and decisions on FEI Championships for all age categories and disciplines, and potential initiatives to help Organisers, will be deferred to its June meeting.

National Federations and Organisers whose Calendar date applications/modifications have been approved by the FEI during the Covid-19 period have been informed that no guarantee of exclusivity will be provided to them for the new Calendar dates and that equal consideration of all future Calendar date applications/modifications will be given by the relevant Calendar Task Force and by the FEI Board.

For Eventing the Board approved the following:

For all applications/modifications to the FEI Calendar whose period of submission has been shortened, National Federations must also submit the Draft Schedule at the same time that they submit their Calendar date requests.

(Deadline for NFs: Notified on 28 April, NFs have until 28 May 2020 to indicate disapproval)

 

Eventing Calendar

 

The Board approved the three following Emergency Board Resolutions:

  1. Deadline by which National Federations should provide their dates for postponed Events in 2020
    Until 31 December 2020 submissions for applications and/or modifications of Calendar dates for:
    - CCI4* Long Format and CCI5* Long Format Events must reach the FEI Secretary General at least six weeks prior to the Event
    - CCI4* Short Format Events and below must reach the FEI Secretary General at least four weeks prior to the Event
  2. Date Clash Rules
    Until 31 December 2020:
    - CCI4* Short Format and below: no Date Clash Rules apply
    - CCI4* Long Format and above: review of date clashes will be done on a case-by-case basis once applications and/or modifications are received from National Federations
  3. Officials
    For CCI3* Long Format, the requirement for Foreign Officials could be removed on request and will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. The relevant Articles of the FEI Eventing Rules to be interpreted accordingly.

Eventing Calendar / CCI4* MER opportunities; 5* Events 2020 - Board Resolution

 

The Board approved:

CCIO/Nations Cup 2020
The 2020 Calendar will be left open to encourage all possible CCI4* Minimum Eligibility Requirement (MER) opportunities. Impacted National Federations/Organisers will be consulted by the FEI.

5* Events 2020
The 2020 Calendar will be left open to allow for any postponements/rescheduling of 5* Events.
