Happy Birthday Ma’am
The Queen's Birthday is observed on the second Monday of June in many Australia States and most eventing riders spend it at Werribee Park near Melbourne at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event!
While we’re not participating in the final day of the event on the Queen’s Birthday this year, HM The Queen herself may well be in the saddle
She may be 94 years old but last weekend The Queen enjoyed a ride out on Fern, a 14-year-old Fell Pony, in Windsor Home Park.
The Royal Family's Instagram account showed the pictured saying that "Her Majesty has enjoyed riding since childhood and is closely involved with the welfare of the horses she owns for breeding, riding and racing”
Horses featured in The Queen’s life from a very young age. She had her first riding lesson in the private riding school at Buckingham Palace Mews in January 1930, when she was just three years old and was given her first pony, the Shetland mare Peggy, by her grandfather King George V on her fourth birthday.
