Bettina Cardinael, groom for Lara De Liedekerke-Meier, scooped the Cavalor FEI Best Groom prize during the recent 2024 FEI Awards Gala in Abu Dhabi.
Bettina was recognised as the world’s top groom for 2024 after a very successful year working with Belgian Olympian Lara De Liedekerke-Meier, who finished the year as the World Number 4 Eventing Rider.
Lara won her first CCI5* in Lumühlen and then finished an impressive 13th in the Individual Eventing competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, aided behind the scenes by Bettina.
“I love working with Lara; she is hardworking, human and kind to her horses,” said Bettina on accepting the award “This year has been both challenging and exciting, and I could see that our team was destined for great things. I am very happy to have contributed to this success and to be recognised with this award.”
Bettina follows in the footsteps of many top eventing grooms to win the FEI Best Groom Award with Kerryn Edmans, head girl for Tim and Jonelle Price, most recently winning in 2022 and Carmen Thieman, groom for Ingrid Klimke winning in 2020.
