Amanda Young and Bijou on course at Sydney International Horse Trials (above) and back at the vet check (below)
Standing at the end of the CIC2* cross country at Sydney International Horse Trials, I noticed a small black horse led by his rider come into the vet check area at the end of their ride. Scanning my rider list, I was pleased to find that it was Amanda Young, who has written some great reports for us from Tamworth and Quirindi and I hopped over to introduce myself and lend a hand sponging her horse Bijou down.
It hadn’t been their best result on cross country as Amanda explains but she was still delighted with her New Zealand bred horse who has an interesting background, including coming fifth in the CIC3* at Kihikihi and 4th in the CIC3* at Puhinui in 2008 at a tender age.
Watch Amanda and Bijou ride around the Sydney @SIEC course in February when they had a more successful day, finishing fifth in the CNC2*
