Bruce Farrar and his wife, Sam, at Wallaby Hill
When we were at Wallaby Hill Horse Trials we caught up with a very happy Bruce Farrar. Bruce was not only happy because he had recently taken up the post of CEO at Equestrian NSW but he was over the moon because he was coming second in the EvA 80 class.
Sadly when we spoke to him on Sunday after cross country the spark had somewhat gone from his eye. “I made an un-planned dismount on the cross country course,” he explained, adding “that will teach me for thinking I could just go out on cross country and sit there!”
After commiserating with Bruce about his fall we congratulated Bruce on his new appointment in Equestrian NSW and asked if we could interview him. “But this job is not about me – it’s about doing the best for our members,” he objected. But we convinced the very likable Bruce that those Equestrian members might like to find out a little bit about the man who has taken on what will not always be an easy job.
