Equestrian Australia caught up with Chris Burton when he was back at home in Australia at the end of 2017 to find out how his year had gone and what he was looking forward to in 2018
For Chris, there is no doubt as to the most important event of 2017 – and it wasn’t to do with horses!
“I had a baby boy and that was the highlight of my year!”
Obviously Chris is hoping to be selected for the World Equestrian Games in September and he is in the enviable position of having several very good horses. But while he is not tempting fate “I don’t like to plan too early in advance because, with horses, things do tend to change” he hopes to have “three or four horses in contention for WEG”
As well as the WEG in North Carolina, a trip to the States could be on the cards to compete in a leg of the Event Rider Masters. As yet we’re all still waiting with bated breath to see the 2018 ERM calendar but it sounds as if the rumoured USA leg is looking likely
