While two of the three riders at the final Puhinui International 3 Day Event CCI3* press conference were professional riders, second placed Fraser King manages to fit his eventing career around various other activities. As well as riding every day Fraser, who hails from Cambridge in the North Island of New Zealand, the birth place of Sir Mark Todd, is a barrister who is also undertaking a PhD and even finds time to serve in the New Zealand Territorial Army. Even Clarke Johnstone and Nick Gauntlett seemed in awe of what this young man packs into his life
Fraser and his off the track thoroughbred Nadal KSNZ have had a good year, having won the Eventing Canterbury National One Day Event Championships in Christchurch in November and now finishing second in the CCI3* at one of New Zealand’s most prestigious 3 Day Events. Nadal KSNZ, a 15-year-old gelding by Volksraad, who raced until 2008 under the name of Pretorius won over $300,000 during his racing career then was ridden by Kylie McCambridge before Fraser took him over.
