Harriet Upton and her 90p Olympic horse

Harriet Upton and Dramatic Effect warm up for dressage at Chilham Castle

19 year old Harriet Upton is building up a strong team of young talented horses, many of them mares, but it was the story of Carraig Dubh (Danny) that really caught our interest.

The 15 year old gelding that was previously competed by British team rider Tina Cook then leased by Samantha Albert to compete for Jamaica at London 2012 came to Harriet in 2013 and the pair instantly clicked. Their success together in 2014 led to them being part of the British Racesafe Junior Squad at the FEI Junior European Championships at Bishop Burton where they finished on their dressage score

Thanks to Danny’s very generous owner, Shaun Lawson, Harriet now owns 90% of the Olympic horse – for just 90p and Harriet shared the story with us when we caught up with her at Chilham Castle
