Heath Ryan is one of the larger than life personalities on the Australian equestrian scene and is one of the few people who has competed successfully at international level in both dressage and eventing. In 2008 Heath was a member of the Australian Dressage Team in Hong Kong for the Beijing Olympic Games and is a three-time Australian Three Day Event Champion
Heath is also well known as an equestrian coach and has been the Assistant Coach for three Australian Olympic Eventing teams; in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympics where Australia won Gold, in 2000 at the Sydney Olympics where Australia again won Gold and then at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
In 2009 Heath suffered a stroke but is now well on the way to dominating in dressage and eventing competition once again. Debbie Higgs chatted to him about his recent successes in dressage and eventing, his long standing owners who have supported him during his recovery from the stroke and his up and coming eventing horse, Aspire . Does he have another eventing star like Mystery Whisper, the horse he sold to Phillip Dutton prior to the London 2012 Olympic Games, we wonder?
