Jemma Clark and Koyuna Tora Bora at Tonimbuk
A grey mare made an appearance at Tonimbuk Horse Trials last weekend looking as if she knew exactly where she was. The 17 year old Koyuna Tora Bora last competed there in 2009, piloted by Amanda Ross to seventh place in the CIC3*; in the same year they also finished fourth at the CCI4* in Adelaide.
The TB/WB cross mare sired by Koyuna Majestic Supreme was then retired to be a broodmare by her syndicate and, although this wasn’t a huge success, there is a colt on the ground by the Olympic show jumper Quintus. Jemma Clark, daughter of Marty Clark who was part of the syndicate, now has the ride on Koyuna Tora Bora and we caught up with them at Tonimbuk after a somewhat trying dressage test but a lovely show jumping round in the EvA 95
“I think she knows exactly what she’s doing” says Jemma “It’s a case of me getting used to her”
They chose not to ride around the cross country on Sunday as “There’s always next time and the show jumping was awesome!” - which you can see below
(Please excuse my blond moment in the moment when I mention long listed for Sydney 2000 – I had Amanda Ross, who did compete at Sydney, in my brain and meant she was long-listed for the 2010 WEG in Kentucky when a special class was held at the Sydney 3 Day Event for the long listed combinations)
