Wanderberry at Rio

Wanderberry takes a few questions from the press at Rio and has a few of his own for photographer Jon Stroud

Just days before the Rio Olympics started on August 1st, 18 year old Hannah Francis died of cancer

Hannah had become a much loved member of the eventing community as she battled her disease and raised awareness of the need to fund more cancer research through her blogs and the adventures of Willberry the Wonder Pony. By the time of her death she had raised well over than £100,000 for charities associated with cancer and in May Willberry Wonder Pony was approved as a registered charity.

Now her work will be continued with the charity continuing to raise money for bone cancer research and ‘Willberry’s Wishes’ will enable other seriously ill people to fulfil their horsey dream.

During her illness Hannah met many of her eventing heroes and some of them are keeping alive her dream here in Rio. British team members Pippa Funnell and Gemma Tattersall have both been spotted with a ‘Wanderberry’ and equestrian photographer Jon Stroud is accompanying another Wanderberry on his Olympic travels to keep Hannah’s charity in the forefront of people’s minds
