After the cross country phase at Lignières on Saturday there are not many changes in the leader board of the CCI 2*. Lucy Jackson of New Zealand was the first rider to complete the course with no jumping faults and under time but her compatriot Tim Price riding Vortex, French Olympian Nicholas Touzaint and Eveline Bodenmüller of Switzerland all managed to do the same. The first five riders now have only four points between them which should make for an exciting showjumping finale on Sunday where one rail could have big implications.
New Zealand is very much in the hunt for honours on the podium with Tim in third place on a score of 45.4 only 1.9 faults behind the leader Nicholas Touzaint (43.50), Lucy Jackson in fourth on a score of 47 and Jesse Campbell seventh riding Lancelot 359 on 47.8. As Tim has show jumped to World Cup level before eventing, let’s hope his show jumping skills shine tomorrow!
The 2* course, designed by Pierre Le Goupil of France had some changes this year and eleven riders were eliminated with three eliminations being due to falls. Only one of the top ten riders after dressage had problems on course; Thomas Carlile (FRA) riding Omega du Fenaud had one refusal and some time penalty points, moving him from 8th to 46th place.
In the CIC 1* Tim is in 15th place riding Bango and Jonelle Richards, his fiancé and last year’s winner here, is in 24th place. French rider Geoffroy Soullez riding Mandarin du Li leads the field
