Libby says "The Little Turtle is not backing down! Nearly gobbled up by Sir Mark's lorry!"
Get ready for the final FEI Nations Cup Eventing at Boekelo in the next few days. Libby Law is already on the ground (somewhat in the shadow of Sir Mark Todd) and has reported back that the place is looking great and ready for some big action!
With the final in the FEI Nations Cup Eventing series taking place and some of the world’s top riders competing, it is going to be a big few days in Boekelo. The event, which is well known for being the party event of the year, has already kicked off with a few beers in the bar on Tuesday night as the trucks started to roll in.
From Australia we have six competitors; Andrew Hoy (Cheeky Calimbo), Chris Burton (Graf Liberty), Kevin McNab (Kelecyn Cognac), Emma Dougall (Belcam Bear), Murray Lamperd (Under the Clocks) and Paul Tapner (Wickstead Didgeridoo) with Chris, Andrew, Emma and Paul representing Australia in the teams competition.
Murray says in his latest quick update that “Ninja is going well and I am hopeful of a solid performance before Pau, France 2 weeks after”
Germany and Great Britain are locked in a tight struggle to win the Series and both countries have some cracking combinations entered. There are of course plenty of Kiwis there (well, we did say it was a party event) including Sir Mark on the lovely Leonidas II who he told us about recently, Blyth Tait, Tim Price and Lizzy Brown and our very own blogger Alfie Bleekman has two rides for the host country the Netherlands on Ziomf and Meepswood Conquestor
The USA is down to three riders having lost a few on the way so their team now comprises of Boyd Martin, Elisabeth Halliday and Lauren Kieffer and Ireland also has a large contingent (let’s hope there’s plenty of Guiness as well as Grolsch)
The trot up is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at 1:30pm and the declaration of starters at 4pm with dressage underway on Thursday. Libby will be uploading photo galleries each day to the site and we’ll be bringing you all the news direct from Boekelo*
*This week’s event coverage and photograph galleries from Boekelo and Wallaby Hill ODE & Exhibition Eventing are available to our 4* Members only. Don’t miss out – find out more about joining here
