British team announced for Fontainebleau Nations Cup

      The British campaign for the FEI Nations Cup in 2013 was very successful

Britain, last year’s winners of the FEI Nations Cup series, has announced its squad to represent them at the first leg of the 2014 series at Fontainebleau in France from 20th – 23rd March

The British Eventing Senior Selection Committee have selected a team of four riders from the British CICO squad;

  • Nick Gauntlett riding Grand Manoeuvre
  • Emily Llewellyn riding either Greenlawn Sky High or Junior II
  • Gemma Tattersall riding Chico Bella P
  • Izzy Taylor riding KBIS Starlet or KBIS Starchaser

Two more members of the squad, David Doel and Lucy Wiegersma will also be travelling to compete in Fontainebleau and act as reserves. David will be riding the Australian bred horse previously ridden by Wendy Schaeffer, Koyuna Sun Magic whilst Lucy will be riding Mr Chunky

On the British Eventing site Yogi Breisner has said that “The primary purpose of campaigning the CICO Nations Cup series is to give riders who have not been regular members of Senior Championship teams experience of working and competing within a team environment and to get them out competing against the best continental riders.”

The FEI Nations Cup series has had two additional legs added for 2014 at Ballindenisk in Ireland from 10th – 14th April and Malmö in Sweden from 1st – 3rd August
