Andrew Hoy and his Olympic mount Rutherglen were 2nd in the CCI 3* at Montelibretti in February
Following Germany’s win in the fourth leg of the FEI Nations Cup™ Eventing on their home ground at Aachen they are the team to beat in the penultimate round of this weekend’s Nations Cup at Montelibretto, near Rome in Italy.
The Germans, who also won last month in Strzegom (POL), have now a 20-point lead in the FEI Nations Cup™ Eventing over the Dutch, with two events to run in this new series. Great Britain, the runners-up in Aachen, is in fourth place but on the same points tally as third-placed France.
Chris Burton took the individual honours on Underdiscussion at Aachen but there will be no Australian team competing at Montelibretti this weekend as far as we are aware (in fact we can’t find any information anywhere!)
Andrew Hoy won the CIC 1* and was 2nd in the CCI 2* at Montelibretti in February and we’ve found a video which gives not only a good idea of the terrain but also some great footage of keen riders (you really ride every stride with them, especially with the jolly music) and one of the most interesting eventing interviews we’ve ever seen. Bet the olive oil he won was fantastic but the movie ‘Lost in Translation’ springs to mind
