Only one fence appeared to be troublesome on the CICO3* Pierre Michelet designed course at Fontainebleau and it was a very typical ‘Pierre’ water complex at 19ABC. Four riders picked up refusals here and France’s Stanislas de Zuchow opted to retire after the second refusal. The French Nations Cup team riders however had no problem, finishing the day in second, third and eighth places to maintain their lead on a total score of 142.30. No rider made the very tight time of 6 minutes 19 seconds but Gwendolin Fer, riding for the French team, came the closest with only 1.2 time penalties on Romantic Love. Michael Jung picked up 7.6 penalties on La Biosthetique Sam as did France’s Arnaud Boiteau in third place.

Izzy Taylor on KBIS Briarlands Matilda moved up from seventh to fifth, helping Great Britain move into second place in the team competition while Australia slid down one spot with Chris Burton and TS Jamaimo in seventh, Paul Tapner and Kilronan in 10th and Kevin McNab and Casperelli in 25th.

Paul however leads the CIC2* on Prince Mayo after the dressage and show jumping, just ahead of Michael Jung riding FischerTakinou, a lead that he will no doubt be jealously guarding on the cross country tomorrow.

The CCI1* classes have completed with Victor Levecque riding Phunambule des Auges (say that with a mouthful of croissant) winning the CCI1* NAF Magic and another well known French rider Nicholas Touzaint winning the CCI1*B NAF Supreflex riding Quaolin de la Serre
