The sun shines at Pau

Having had a few very soggy days at the cancelled Mondial du Lion the eventing fraternity has now decamped further south in France for Les Etoiles de Pau, with Olympic champion Michael Jung being one of the first riders to arrive early on Saturday afternoon

The good news is that the sun has been shining in Pau, helping to dry things out and the weather forecast is for possible showers on Thursday and Friday but clear and cool on Saturday and Sunday .....

We will keep our fingers crossed but are glad that at least the rain has softened the going which, if it dries out a little during the week, will be perfect for the cross country event on Saturday the 27th . commented Christian Aschard, the cross country jump builder.

The organising committee in Pau has agreed to allow riders who would have participated in the “Mondial du Lion” and who have the required qualifications to compete in the CIC**. This means the number of registered riders for this event increases from 49 to 55. The list of the registered participants in the CIC** and the times of the events have been slightly amended:

Thursday 25/10

Dressage CIC2 from 8.30 to 11.20                        Dressage CCI4 from  14.00 to 17.20

Friday 26/10

Dressage CCI4 from 08.45 to 12.15 and 14.00 to 17.00

Saturday 27/10

Cross Country CIC2 from 8.45 to 11.30. Cross Country CCI4 13.00 to 17.30

Sunday 28/10

CSO CIC2 from 9.15 to 10.45. CSO CCI4 14.00 to 15.50

As always the challenging cross country course designed by Pierre Michelet will require top class riding and this year the course has been reversed which will certainly give the riders something to think about!

We’ll be bringing you all the action from Pau where Libby Law is ready to start snapping away so get ready for some 4* fun .................
