The event located at the foot of the Pyrenees turned a touch chilly on the second day of the CIC 2* dressage. It was a successful day for Down Under with New Zealand legend Mark Todd leading on Regent Lad (above) on a score of 40 and the up and coming Aussie legend Chris Burton snapping at his heels riding Graf Liberty on a score of 40.7. In third place is another legend – World, Olympic and European Champion Michael Jung riding FischerRocanaFST on a score of 41; talk about close!!
Another Australian, Bill Levett re-routed from Le Mondial du Lion last weekend with his young horse Alexander NJ who is in mid-range lying 20th.
The CCI 4*horses had their first inspection in the morning and the first 21riders did their dressage in the afternoon with the British doing well on the first day. William Fox-Pitt and Chilli Morning are currently in the lead (44.7) and Mary King in third (47.7) on her home bred King’s Temptress. Andrew Nicholson riding his first horse, Mr Cruise Control is in second place (45.7) and Australian Kevin McNab riding Clifton Pinot is in fourth place (50.2). The remaining 42 will be performing tomorrow...
