A few days after winning the CCI* and CCI2* at Haras du Pin Clayton Fredericks announced he had new plans for Team Fredericks. But before we tell you about that enjoy Clayton and 'Snatch' rocking the night away!
Team Fredericks expand their equestrian horizons Clayton Fredericks would like to officially confirm exciting new plans to expand Team Fredericks business overseas, with planned new premises in the USA providing a foothold into the enormous American equestrian market.
The expansion will provide exciting future opportunities for clinics, tuition and other equestrian business opportunities, and will provide a key market focus for the Southern Stars Saddlery business, run by Clayton and his brother Kelvin, who is based in Australia.
Clayton will spend significant time in the US initially and will find the team a continental base as well as commuting regularly back to the UK, while Lucinda will manage the team’s headquarters at Rosegarth in Wiltshire, as well as a busy competition and coaching schedule that takes her to Europe and further afield.
Clayton commented: “I have been looking at opportunities to expand Team Fredericks and Southern Stars Saddlery for some time now, and several different options in America have been presented to me. I have spent a lot of time in America and have always felt really welcomed there, and the sheer size of the market means I would be foolish not to explore the possibilities. There are 9.2 million horses in the United States, and 4.6 million Americans are involved in the industry as horse owners, service providers, employees and volunteers. Tens of millions more participate as spectators, while 2 million people own horses. One out of every 63 Americans is involved with horses.”
Up to now our Team Fredericks activity has been limited to competing in major events such as the Rolex Kentucky 3 day event, supporting roadshows by Southern Stars and a small network of US-based agents. I’m planning to spearhead a drive that will involve both the team and saddlery into the only really big equestrian market we have not so far tackled” he added.
Clayton will continue to compete at top level internationally and has plans to take part in US eventing, with a first appearance possibly at Fair hill with 2 – 3 horses competing.
Both Lucinda and Clayton were on the silver medal-winning Australian team at the 2008 Olympics in Hong Kong and this year represented Australia on the 2012 London Olympics Team which placed 6th. Between them they have won many top international eventing awards, including Burghley, Badminton and Rolex in Kentucky.
A happy Clayton at Hara du Pin
