The Australian horse Sergeant Crisp who was a consistent performer at 4* level with Yona Lloyd and competed twice at 5* level at the Australian International 3 Day Event is enjoying a new-found career in England and proving to be a top performer at somewhat lower levels in his later years.
Now 17 years old, the popular big grey horse on the Australian circuit was last competed by Yona in 2017 when he finished third in the CCI4*-L at Wallaby Hill, before spending some time in Western Australia with his new British owner Jess West
When Jess returned to the UK, New Zealand’s Caroline Powell took over the ride with Sergeant Crisp competing at various international events such as Waregem, Boekelo and Houghton Hall in 2018 and 2019
Still owned by Jess and Jo West, Sergeant Crisp now has some slightly easier duties with his new rider Sally Hancock and is coming up trumps at BE100 level. Sally and ‘Crispy’ have had just two starts this year and have won both of them on their dressage score – taking the BE100 Open at Little Downham (4) and the BE100 Open at Norton Disney in October
Go the big grey!
