Charlotte Barraclough, with one bra still on, is the winner!
Having blitzed around the cross country in the morning, eventing riders Donna Smith (in the Santa suit), Andy Daines and Nick Brooks joined Charlotte and Sarah to compete in the traditional Tip ‘n Strip at Puhinui International Horse Trials
The rules are simple – if your horse taps a pole (not just knock it down) then the rider has to remove an item of clothing so multiple bras and various other methods of maintaining some dignity were employed.
Donna, still in the Santa suit, riding Gucci
Donna’s Santa suit eventually had to come off but her young grey horse Gucci certainly impressed. This seven year old horse that Donna is ‘taking slowly’ by doing mustering on the farm with him certainly showed jumping talent but Donna still bears the scar under her eye from some of Gucci’s high jinks in the past
“I knew he’d be able to jump if he could get his legs up that high!”
But it was Charlotte Barraclough’s stallion Surreal, who also showed some high leg action with his great bucks, that cleared the final 1.65m without ‘tipping’ a pole to take the win
