In a change to normal procedure whereby a Test Event is held prior to an Olympic Games or major Championship, the FEI has advised that no traditional full Eventing test event will be organised in the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
The Eventing competition at Paris 2024, that will take place at the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Château de Versailles from 26th – 29th July 2024, will utilise temporary infrastructure for all phases that will only be ready in time for the actual Olympic Games period.
In view of that, the decision not to hold a full-scale test event was taken for cost reasons. Other cost reduction strategies include running all eventing dressage on one day and not opening the First Horse Inspection to viewing by the general public
There will however be various activities organised to prepare for the coming equestrian events at Paris 2024
The French company GL Events Equestrian Sport, responsible for delivering the Olympic and Paralympic equestrian events, will use existing events at Fontainebleau scheduled for the spring of 2023 (CSI5*/CDI5* 19-23 April 2023) and in 2024 (dates TBC) to coordinate their teams and workforce.
These will be International Jumping and Dressage events and National Eventing competitions. The footing in the main arena at these events will be the same as the one in use on the field of play in Versailles during the Games
There will be a series of testing activities including a test/demonstration of the pontoon water crossings in September 2023 (exact dates TBC) to which NOCs/NFs will be invited.
