Silver Hills organiser Browyn Doong keeps busy
Despite the threat of rain the weather was pretty close to perfect for the Silver Hills One Day Event. Organiser, Bronwyn Doong, together with her reliable band of helpers made sure the weekend ran pretty much to time and with tasty egg and bacon rolls, together with even tastier pizzas, everyone seemed to enjoy the Easter weekend.
Although a 2* class had been advertised it was decided to cancel this class when the numbers were low, which could have possibly been due to Silver Hills running in between Berrima and Albury or maybe it was due to 2* riders wanting to stay and home and eat their Easter eggs!
Megan Bryant and Talinga at the half way point on cross country
The highest class of the weekend was the Horsesafe Flooring CNC* where Megan Bryant and Talinga Cavalier took home the winner's rug thanks to a clear cross country round, during which the pair had the fastest time of the class (although still picked up ten time penalties.) The twists and turns on the Silver Hills' cross country course make it hard to make the time and the course also runs through a very pretty wooded area where riders have to negotiate not just the fences but the many trees as well.

Meanwhile Gemma Tinney and Murrabong Kinganui took home the blue ribbon in the junior section of the EvA105 class. Mum (Karen) and Dad (Stuart) Tinney kept a close eye on both their girls who were riding in the same class one after the other and must be very proud to have their two girls doing so well – Jaymee finished sixth on Scenicwood.

In the Southern Cross EvA95 junior class it was a similar story of two sisters only this time it was the Cottle sisters. While Emma Cottle finished second behind the winner of the class Chelsea Kay riding Master Teddy Edward, Emma’s younger sister Georgia finished fourth. Emma also enjoyed a good result in the Macarthur Stockfeeds EvA80 junior class where she won the class riding Duke. The result was even more special as this is the pair's first event together.

Penelope Austin blew the judge away with her dressage test on Kaptain Arthur Phillip scoring an amazing 19.8 in the Fiddan Pty Ltd EvA95 class and, despite picking a few cross country time penalties, the pair went onto win the class 21 points ahead of second placed Leah Smith and Witch Doctor.

Anna Stevens achieved the ultimate aim of most eventers when she didn’t just finish on her dressage score but she lead the class on that dressage score and didn’t move out of that position all weekend, winning the Menai Blinds EvA95 class.
The dressage leaders in both EvA80 classes went on to win their respective sections. Inger Sutherland and Springfield Miracle took out the Macarthur Stockfeeds Section A while Stephen Mannix rode Domstaar to victory in Section B.
