Quirindi stages its inaugural CCI event

Quirindi Eventing are set to run their inaugural CCI event alongside CIC classes this weekend and have attracted around 250 entries spread from the newcomers class to the CCI2*.

Titch Massey from New Zealand is the name behind the CCI2* track with ‘local’ course designer, Darryl Burgess, responsible for the course design of the other tracks. The action started today with the CCI classes doing their dressage, while the other classes will kick off at 8.30 tomorrow.

Emma Mason and Poker Face warm up for dressage

For those riders who didn’t make it onto the London plane it is business as usual and back to the job of getting younger, less experienced horses out and about. In the International Speedcheck CCI2* Emma Mason will be hoping for great things with the talented Poker Face, while Stuart Tinney and Sydney will be battling it out in the International Speedcheck CIC2*. Sharmayne Spencer, President of the Tamworth International Event, who will be running their first event at their home base of AELEC (Australian National Equine Livestock Events Centre) next month, heads the field in the International Speedcheck CCI* riding Aurelia De Gwaihir. This talented horse is by Gwaihir Aubusson, who has sired many good event horses, and Aurelia is looking set to follow in dad’s hoof prints.

John Lechner is at Quirindi being kept busy by helping with cross country control and hopefully taking some photos for An Eventful Life. We look forward to hearing John’s twitters (or should that be tweets?) during the weekend and catching up with all the news about who did what early next week.

John's going to have a busy weekend but will be helped by his two assistants in training - Kyle and Ethan, who are seen here testing out one of the cross country fences

Good luck everyone!
