The Rio 2016 Organising Committee has released the daily competition schedule for the Olympic Games (click here to view).
“We have produced a schedule that is well balanced and offers the public a wide variety of sports and medal events from the start to the finish of the Games,” said Agberto Guimarães, Rio 2016’s Executive Director of Sport.
The Games will officially begin on 5 August 2016, when the legendary Maracanã Stadium hosts the opening ceremony and will get into full swing when 20 disciplines begin the following day.
The equestrian sports are among the first to get underway with the eventing running from Saturday 6th – Tuesday 9th August. The show jumping will be held on Sunday 14th, Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th and Friday 19th August. The dressage will be held on Wednesday 10th – Friday 12th and conclude on Monday 15th August. All of the equestrian sports will take place at the Deodoro Zone
The full competition schedule, showing the specific session times, will be published on 31 March, when ticket sales start for Brazilian residents and the list of approved ticket resellers (ATRs) for overseas territories will be released.
