Benjamin Winter and Ispo
World champion Sandra Auffarth has taken over the ride on Ispo, the horse formerly ridden by German rider Benjamin Winter. The 10 year old Westphalian gelding was being ridden by Benjamin in the CCI4* at Luhmuhlen when the young rider was fatally injured in June and Sandra has taken over the ride at the request of Benjamin’s family
"Ben was not only a rider colleague, but also a very good friend. At the request of the Winter family I have taken Ispo" Sandra says on her website, promising to try and fulfil the conviction that Ben always showed in this horse “in his name and spirit”
Ispo, who is owned by Sybille Winter and the German DOKR, has already moved to Sandra’s stables and she will start competing him in the new season.
