Germany’s Sandra Auffarth has taken the lead at the Longines FEI European Championship with a score of 31.40, just slightly ahead of Holly Woodhead’s leading score from yesterday of 31.70.
Sandra and her World Championship winning horse Opgun Louvo produced a special test and the smile on her face said it all as she exited the arena and patted her horse. The score was announced as she calmly removed her horse’s boots and then she walked him for a little way with her groom as if absorbing what they had just done together – the hugs and excitement could wait for later.
Coming back to talk to the media Sandra was once again wearing that lovely big smile and she told us that it had been a ‘perfect’ ride for her
“I enjoyed it so much, he was relaxed, so nice to ride and I didn’t feel at all nervous. Then at the end, it was so nice to hear the commentator say that we were in the lead”
