The Spirit of Eventing

The winner of the Eventing Cinema YouTube competition in association with HorseHub, the ultimate equestrian training app, is 19-year-old Amber Woodhouse from Berkshire.

Amber will be attending the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2012 next week and her winning entry which captured ‘the spirit of eventing’ will be played during the event on giant screens around the showground. Amber will also receive a £1000 voucher for photography equipment.

All the videos that were entered in the competition were first of all judged by the public who had to ‘like’ the video on YouTube. The top ten most ‘liked’ videos were then judged by a panel of people who pretty much cover all the various aspects of eventing.

Mike Etherington-Smith - British Eventing Chief Executive and international course designer

Elizabeth Inman - the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials event director

Paul Tapner - Australian event rider, representing HorseHub

Liam Killen - from the Page Play Equestrian Social Media Awards

Paul Tapner said of the winning film: “Many of the films were very inspiring or artistic, but for me, it was the only film which truly captured every aspect of eventing.”

Liam Killen said of the winning entry: “This was a really emotive depiction of the sport of eventing which hit the nail on the head. The use of subtle humour and behind the scenes action really gave this entry the X-factor for me.”

Elizabeth Inman, event director, commented that: “The calibre of the top ten films was extremely high and very inspiring; we at Land Rover Burghley are looking forward to hosting the winning film and welcoming the top ten film makers to the event next week.”
