A happy win but a sad farewell

A huge hug before they go in to the presentation together for the last time

Shane Rose was very happy with his CCI3* win on CP Qualified at Sydney International Horse Trials but very sad to say goodbye his groom of many years, Michelle Robson, at her last event with the team from Bimbadeen Park

Michelle, who won the FEI Groom Award in 2009, is one of the most professional and delightful people on the eventing circuit who has a special touch wither equine charges; not only are the horses in her care beautifully turned out but they always look happy to be by her side

Michelle went to work for Shane after studying Horse Business Management at Marcus Oldham College and during her time at Bimbadeen Park she has been part of the ups and downs from the medals at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen and the Beijing Olympic Games to the disappointment of injury prior to London 2012

We will still be seeing Michelle out and about as she is to work at the very lovely Wallaby Hill and hopefully she will tell us all about her new role in her next blog. But in the meantime, here’s the little snippet from Shane’s presentation speech when Michelle was awarded the Mike O’Callahan Grooms Award at Sydney.

Shane asked for the microphone and started to speak but had to stop for a while to compose himself. After a few seconds he wasn’t the only one feeling emotional …………..

Michelle receives yet another well deserved Grooms Award

A last ear pull for Darcy before the presentation from Michelle
