Although Tim Downes comes out to New Zealand twice a year in a coaching capacity his trip as head of the ground jury for the CCI3* at Sydney International Horse Trials was the first time he had been to Australia.
Tim, who is a Fellow of the British Horse Society, a List 1 Dressage Judge and British Dressage Master Judge, a 4* international 3 day event judge and a British Eventing Master Coach (phew), is a joint owner in the Ingestre Stables in Stafford, England. Together with his partner, New Zealand event rider Andrew Bennie, Tim spends his time conducting clinics all over Great Britain as well as regular trips to New Zealand and Hong Kong.
We caught up with this likeable and easy to talk to man on Sunday morning while he was enjoying the beautiful sunny Sydney weather to ask him how he had enjoyed his time at Sydney and what he thought of the standard of the 3* dressage and cross country.
