Jump to it at Sydney International Horse Trials

The Sydney International Horse Trials (SIHT) is pleased to announce that it will again host the Berry Saddlery Australian Amateur Jumping Championships 25-27th April 2014.

The Amateur Championships add to the exciting jumping program held at SIHT which also includes the Greater Sydney World Cup Qualifier, Junior and Young Rider classes, height classes from 1.10m to 1.45m and Young Horse classes.

SIHT also conducts eventing classes at CCI3*, CCI2* CCI1* and CIC2* and CIC1* as well as Young Event Horse classes.

The Berry Saddlery Amateur Jumping Championship consists of three classes, with a maximum height of 1.20m, conducted across three days of competition with a cumulative point score determining the winner.

Emily Longhurst from Murrumbateman and her grey mare “Rhapsody in Blue” claimed the title in 2013.

“It’s a great class,” said Emily, “it gives you the opportunity to realise that you can be competitive and ride against the clock to win which can be difficult when you are against all the professionals. It boosts confidence and is an excellent stepping stone to the next level.”

“The Amateurs is very competitive but really fun class,” added Emily.

The class is open to Amateur riders over the age of 21 years.

“We are very pleased to again be hosting the Amateur Championship,” commented event director Rose Read, “and we thank Berry Saddlery for their support of the class.”

“It is a very important and popular class with around 60 competitors, we see it as a great feature of our program.”

The Sydney International Horse Trials will feature a wide range of eventing and jumping classes including a CCI3* and a Show Jumping World Cup Qualifier. There will also be plenty of activities for kids and adults, so come and enjoy a great day out for the whole family.
