Cathal Daniels enjoyed success in both Young Rider and Senior teams in 2015
On Thursday 14th January GAIN Horse feeds and Horse Sport Ireland hosted a medal reception in the Kilkenny to celebrate the success of Team Ireland Equestrian’s underage Showjumping and Eventing Teams in 2015.
James Kennedy Chairman of the HSI Finance Committee presented mementoes to the medallists on behalf of Horse Sport Ireland. “These riders have put Ireland up in lights. They and their families deserve huge credit. The high performance structures which are now in place are working well and I want to thank the coaches and the HSI staff for the work they put in to ensure our teams are professionally prepared when they go to these Championships” he said.
In 2015 young Irish eventing riders celebrated two major achievements with Zara Nelson winning the Individual bronze in at the FEI European Championships for Ponies in Malmo, whilst Ireland’s Young Rider team made up of Tony Kennedy, Suzie Berry, Cathal Daniels and Harold Megahey also took secured bronze at the FEI European Eventing Championships for Young Riders in Strzegom.
Cathal then stepped up to play with the ‘big boys’ on the Irish senior team along with Jonty Evans, Padraig McCarthy and Joseph Murphy to score a major win at Boekelo, taking Ireland’s first Nations Cup eventing cap for many years - definitely a young man to watch in 2016 and many years to come
