The French stallion Tenareze who won the 6 Year Old Championship at Le Lion d’Angers in 2013 and 7 Year Old Championship in 2014 ridden by Tom Carlile has been sold to British rider Harry Meade

Tom, who told us in an interview that he believed that Tenareze was his ‘ticket to Rio’ now admits that the horse is likely to compete at the 2016 Olympic Games, albeit for Britain ridden by Harry. Speaking to the French magazine Cavadeos Tom has said that he has sold Tenareze with a heavy heart but the sale would enable him to further his career and some personal projects.

Harry visited Tom’s stable to try Tenareze accompanied by his father, Olympic champion Richard Meade, prompting Tom to say that the horse could not be going to be a better home.

Harry, who top horse Wild Lone collapsed and died after cross country at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in September, has said on Twitter that he is ‘very excited and lucky to be taking on the ride. Tom has done a wonderful job with him and we’re looking forward to lots of fun’
