Thanks to Lucinda Green for coming to Denman
Lucinda Green MBE, internationally renown equestrian star, recently visited Denman in the Upper Hunter Valley region of NSW to pass some of her vast knowledge at a cross country clinic. The two day clinic, hosted by Denman Horse Trials at the Pony Club grounds, was well attended by riders of all levels from as far away as Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle, Armidale as well as local riders.
“It was great to have Lucinda at Denman’ said Clinic organiser Sue Gunn. “She is recognised as probably the best ever cross country rider, having won World Championships and Olympic medals for Great Britain and Badminton a record seven times on different horses. She had a lot of knowledge to share with the lucky 24 riders involved in the clinic and I’m sure they all went home with plenty to think about and work on.”
Charlotte Dorner who is from Ireland but in Australia at the moment working at Coolmore listens carefully to everything Lucinda says
“As well as the riders gaining from the clinic Lucinda made the many spectators feel welcome and very much part of the whole experience. This was the first time Lucinda had been to Denman and she was very impressed with the cross country course and facilities we have here. She loved the wide variety of fences, which are solidly built to encourage both horse and rider and the recent enlarging of the water jump made for a great training area. After the rain we have had here evertying was looking very green and the going was perfect and Lucinda thought Denman was a very pretty place - which is always an added bonus.”
Adam Mooney from Sydney learned a lot from the clinic
The Denman committee hope Lucinda will be able to return for further clinics in the future “We would love to have her back again and in the meantime would like to say a massive thank you to her for coming and teaching our riders the importance of being a safe cross country rider.”
