Oliver Townend has some lovely up and coming horses and seasoned campaigners in his stable
With the eventing season drawing to a close in the UK, Oliver Townend has a commanding lead in the British Eventing Top 20 Horses and Riders list. Horses and riders competing at Novice level and above earn BE points with the Top 100 lists being published at the end of the season.
It is doubtful that anyone will overtook the prolific Oliver Townend who has amassed 2081 points to date, ahead of Andrew Nicholson (not currently competing due to injury) with 1262 and William Fox-Pitt on 1100.
Australia’s Chris Burton, who has a stable chock a block full of talented horses competing at the moment, is in fourth place with 1069 and two other Australian riders, Paul Tapner (10th, 814 points) and Bill Levett (16th, 514 points) are also currently in the top 20
As a rider Sir Mark Todd is in seventh place (919 points) but his horse Leonidas II, owned by Di Brunsden and Peter Cattell leads the Top Horses with 352 points after a very good season including sixth at Burghley and fourth at Badminton. His compatriot Jonelle Price has the lovely young mare Classic Mort, owned by Trisha Rickards in second place (318 points) and Kitty King’s Persimmon, owned by Frank and Jane Inns, is in third place (289 points). Kitty, who has had a very good season, also has Ceylor LAN in sixth place while the Australian thoroughbred TS Jamaimo, ridden by Chris Burton, is in fifth and Tim Price’s Ringwood Sky Boy in fifth
