Mark Todd will be demonstrating tools to optimise your showjumping
The speaker list for this full day of ‘interactive training’ at Hartpury College in the UK reads like a ‘who’s who’ of eventing greats and we’ll be there to bring you their insights
On Monday 4th February, Hartpury College will be hosting the 2013 International Eventing Forum with guest speakers including Sir Mark Todd, Ian Woodhead, David O’Connor and Mike Etherington-Smith.
The title for the 2013 forum is Journey to the Top, with the interactive day designed to benefit riders of all skill levels and ambitions, whether their goal is to win Badminton, or simply to compete at their first BE90, Intro, Riding Club or Pony Club event.
The day will start with top dressage coach Ian Woodhead and his wife Heidi, who will present How Both Ends Meet - from the beginning to the finished product, helping everyone to understand how to establish the essentials that will enable them to produce top competition horses.
Attendees will then learn from the New Zealand Eventing Legend – Sir Mark Todd whose show jumping based demo The Jumping Ladder will address key tools in optimising both the horse and rider’s show jumping performance, which is such an important phase in present day eventing.
The day will finish with Mike Etherington-Smith, designer of the 2000 Sydney and the 2008 Beijing Olympic cross country courses, as well as the 2010 World Games at Kentucky (not to mention this year’s Sydney International Horse Trials), who will be joined by USA Olympic Gold Medallist and the new Coach to the American Eventing Team, David O’Connor (back by popular request) in a Course Designer versus Coach scenario, where Mike will pose the questions and David will coach the solutions.
For those lucky enough to attend, tickets are still available at http://www.internationaleventingforum.com but for those who can’t, we’ll be covering each session here on An Eventful Life. Emily Penney will be attending the Forum and will bring us all the updates from these greats of the sport
