2019 International Eventing Forum

      Dickie Waygood

On February 4th 2019, the International Eventing Forum (IEF) is being held once again at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.

The theme of this year’s must attend pre-season fixture is 'Better - Not more Education' with an interesting tagline of ‘Not all training is bad…..but there is a lot that is’

During the day there will be three displays exploring this statement and how it relates to modern day eventing, from the lower levels all the way through to 5*.

The morning session will be hosted by AM Dressage, aka Adam Kemp FBHS and Matt Frost. Their theme will be "‘Simple’ still works”, exploring the core elements of successful dressage riding and training. They will demonstrate and explain how 'simple' for both the horse and rider can achieve the best results.

Major (Retd) Richard Waygood MBE needs little introduction as the Performance Manager of Team GB's Dressage and Eventing medal winning teams. Dickie, as he is known, has had a hand in producing 27 Senior Championship medals for Great Britain since 2009, including team and individual eventing gold medals at the World Equestrian Games in 2018. This much anticipated speaker will be speaking about 'Direct' riding and, with a riding career as rich and varied (from the Riding Master of the Household Cavalry to competing at Badminton and Burghley), it should be a fascinating session.

      Dermott Lennon

For the final session of the day, show jumping course designer Tom Holden will team up with Dermott Lennon (former Show Jumping World Champion and Irish Team European Champion) for a masterclass called the "Jumping Test" and "The Solution".

Once again, the IEF has put together a wonderful selection of riders and speakers, armed with barrels of knowledge and experience. We’ll be covering the IEF and bringing you a roundup of the day which is bound to get you fired up and excited for the season ahead!
