The first six months of the year have flown by and, despite a rocky start to the season, things are now in full swing so we thought we would take a look back at the top cross country videos of the first half of the year
Obviously the earlier events in the season have more time ‘on the board’ so to speak so it may not be surprising that the most viewed video (based on views on our website) is from the first international event of the year at Burnham Market (1) in March. Although the cross country for the International classes was sadly abandoned on the final day, the National classes had gone ahead and the most viewed video so far this year is one from the Intermediate section
Last year, Phoebe Buckley had the second most viewed video riding Custer of the West at Barbury International but so far she is trending well in the lead with the video of her ride on Tiger Mail at Burnham Market International. This pair finished 21st in the Intermediate Section J, jumping clear on cross country with 18.4 time penalties. This is how they did it …….
In second place currently is a video from Floors Castle – our first visit to film at this beautiful location in May. Iona Campbell finished 18th in the Open Intermediate on Edelwijs II and boy, we love the way this horse jumps! Watch their cross country round here
In third place at the end of June is a video of a young rider who needs little introduction – the current European Junior Champion (for one more week anyway), Bubby Upton. Bubby will again compete for Team GB as part of the Young Rider squad at the European Championships in Fontainebleau this weekend
In 2018 she started her season on a high with a win in the CIC2* Section I at one of the TriStar Eventing competitions, Belton International, on her 2017 European Championship horse Eros DHI and Bubby was also kind enough to talk us through her winning ride

An Australian event makes it into fourth place with popular Victorian rider, Callum Buczak (with the famous hair) and Matavia Cheval enjoying a blast around the CIC3* course at the 2017 Australian International 3 Day Event last November which helped them secure fourth place overall – watch their full ride here

In fifth place is another 2017 video, Laura Powell riding Coollatin Rainbow at the South of England (1) 2017 and who doesn’t love to watch a coloured horse having fun on cross country?! Watch their full ride here
In sixth place is a video from one of our most popular video events – Chatsworth International. Ellie Healy and the little grey Midnight Dancer absolutely eat up the CIC1* course and this video is a 'must watch' - especially the expression at the end of the course! This is actually our favourite so far this year - what’s yours?
