UK based Aussies do well at Aston

Bill Levett Athleet V

Bill and Athleet V at Gatcombe 2012

Bill Levett continued his good form at Aston-le-Walls on the weekend with a win in Mulberry Insurance Intermediate Sun Section R riding Athleet V. Bill and his ‘pink’ horse, a roan gelding owned by Clare Prentice, started with a great dressage score of 27.7. They then added only 3.6 time penalties to finish in the lead on a score of 31.3 ahead of New Zealand’s Tim Price riding Bango (32.3)

Bill Also placed fifth in the Mulberry Insurance Intermediate Sun Section Q riding Silver Night Lady.

Sam Griffiths and Paul Tapner both placed in the Mulberry Insurance Advanced Section K. Sam riding Happy Times also showed his expertise in the dressage arena with a score of 27.5 and added 14 time penalties on cross country to finish in fourth place (41.5) behind Pippa Funnell, new dad Francis Whittington and Andrew Nicholson.

Paul riding the delightfully named Yogi Bear VIII finished in sixth place on a score of 47.9. Let’s see how he did it (Taperz' video person seems determined not to show us Paul's head in the dressage so the focus is very definitely on the horse!)

Andrew Nicholson took the honours in the Mulberry Insurance Advanced Section J but Sam and Paul once again took fourth and sixth places respectively, riding Paulank Brockagh and Wickstead Didgeridoo (above)

Paul’s up and coming young horse, the 16.2 thoroughbred gelding Indian Mill, also took second place in the Dassett Eventing A8/9YO Advanced Section H
