We loved the blue (seude) shoes at Burghley last year ..................
Andrew Hoy has put his best foot forward at Montelibretti in Italy to lead the CIC3* - not just on one horse but three. Andrew is always a dapper dresser at horse inspections and we have a bit of a foot fetish going on with his shoes - lovely brown ones this time - maybe he stocks up on fabulous Italian shoes when competing in Italy at the start of each year?
While others from the UK head further south to Barocca d’Alva to start the season this weekend Montelibretti is a traditional start to the year for Andrew who arrived in the Italian town near Rome on Wednesday.

On the lorry were three horses – Algebra, Cheeky Calimbo and Rutherglen and they have all started the competition very well with Cheeky Calimbo leading after the dressage on 40.20, Rutherglen second on 46.90 and Algebra third on 47.40 prompting a tweet from Aussie dressage coach Gareth Hughes saying “That’s how you do it!”
In fourth place is Switzerland’s Johner Melody riding Frimeur du Record CH on a score of 49.30. Johner also leads the CIC1* riding Viril Peccau CH
The cross country takes place on Saturday and show jumping on Sunday – can Andrew go two better than last year when he won the CIC3* on Algebra?
