After the second day of dressage at Tattersalls International Horse Trials, Australian Chris Burton still leads the CCI 1* and 2* classes and Sammi McLeod is in fifth place of the CIC 3*
Chris is in first place on Underdiscussion on a great score of 37 going into the CCI 2* cross country phase on Saturday. Fellow Antipodean, New Zealander Tim Price riding Wesko is in second place (40.7) and he also is in sixth place in this class riding Wembley (47.4) while British riders Oliver Townend (45), Lucy Wiegersma (45) and Tanya Kyle (46.7) are in equal third and 5th place respectively.
Other Australians in this class are Matt Ryan in 25th and 26th places on Bonza Rusty May (55.6) and Bonza Moorabinda (55.9) and Brook Staples riding Dawn Melody in 39th (60.9). British rider Zara Phillips on Black Tuxedo is in equal 32nd place (58.3)
Chris also leads the Land Rover CCI 1* on Graf Liberty (37.5) with Oliver Townend on Cooley Master Class in second place (44.4) and Chris King, also of Great Britain, riding Billy Bonza in third place (45.6).
In the Irish Field CCI 3* the British riders have maintained their places after dressage with Ruth Edge and Rogersdale in the top spot on 41.4 and William Fox-Pitt on Bay My Hero close behind in second place on 41.6. Sharing third place are Irish rider Sarah Wardell with Killeenduff Bay and New Zealander Jonelle Richards riding Mere Oak on 50.4 while Polly Stockton is in fifth place on Westwood Mariner. The only Australian rider in this class is Brook Staples on Ever So Clever in 27th place on 68.2

In the George Mernagh Memorial CIC 3* Ruth Edge has also taken the lead riding her top horse Two Thyme on a very good score of 34 from Thursday’s leader, Ireland’s Camilla Speirs on Portersize Just A Jiff. Top Irish riders Aoife Clarke riding Master Crusoe (42.4) and Capt. Geoff Curran on Jump Jet (44.8) have had a good first international start for 2012 in third and fourth place while Aussie rider and An Eventful Life blogger, Sammi McLeod is in 5th place on a score of 46 riding Kintara. Sammi says “Lotty did her best test by far!” Oliver Townend and Armada (previously ridden by Andrew Nicholson) are in 6th place on 48.8.
The Dubarry Boyne Trophy is part of the George Mernagh Memorial CIC 3* and sees British riders compete directly against Team Ireland Equestrian. Currently the Irish team score is 141.8 (Camilla Speirs, Liz Power Mark Kyle) to the GB team dressage total of 133.2 (Ruth Edge, Oliver Townend and Polly Stockton)
