The Barbury Castle Estate comprises 2000 acres of farmland, woodland and downland just outside Marlborough in Wiltshire. Barbury Castle refers not to bricks and mortar but to the set of ancient earthworks comprising an Iron Age hill fort, covering about 12 acres, adjacent round barrows, Celtic field systems and 18th-19th Century flint workings.
Set in a natural amphitheatre formed by the beautiful Marlborough Downs, Barbury offers probably the best views of a cross-country circuit - anywhere. The course has been designed by Mark Philips to test the skills and courage of the world’s finest horses and riders which will this year include many Olympic riders and their horses from all around the world.
