The weather gods are being kind in Lincolnshire, UK this weekend where the Belton International Horse Trials are taking place.
The main class, the Grantham Cup CIC 3* has Australia’s Bill Levett in the lead on his dressage score of 36.60 riding Shannondale Titan after both days of dressage. He is closely followed by America’s Clark Montgomery with Loughan Glen on a score of 39.80 and another Australian, Chris Burton riding Graf Liberty who will go into the final day on 42.10. Sunday’s competition will see this class complete the cross country and show jumping phase in an exciting finale
In the Listers Mercedes-Benz CIC 2* Oliver Townend and Note Worthy led from the start to finish to clinch the title in front of the packed crowds at Belton Park who were out enjoying the sunshine. Oliver finished on his dressage score of 42.40, closely followed by Tom McEwen riding Toledo de Kerser who just added 2.40 time penalties to his dressage score to finish on 46.20. Third place went to Germany’s Britta Esser with Escorial 146.
