British Young Riders still on top at Strzegom

British rider Will Furlong has maintained the lead at the European Eventing Championship for Young Riders. After a good cross country ride with only a few time faults on his horse Livingstone, Will kept his lead on a score of 34.70 with his compatriot Sophie Beaty, riding as an individual, in second place on Stanly on 39.10.

The French rider Constance Lucie Copestake, lying third after dressage, was eliminated from the competition as were two of her team mates, ending any hope for the French team of a podium finish. Third place with a score of 40.60 penalty points went to German rider Reemtsma Flora on her horse Ikarosz, who ran a flawless cross country

With Britain’s Emily King in fourth place on her Australian horse Loxley, Ella Hitchman on Rocky Rockstar in sixth and Bella Innes Ker on Carolyn in 13th, the British team have a commanding lead heading into the show jumping with 121.9 penalties. Germany has kept its second placing with a score of 132.4 penalty points and Ireland is in third place with 150.80; Irish rider Cathal Daniels is the best placed of their team in 11th place on Rioghan Rua

The home team Poland was promoted from the 9th to the 8th position with a score of 1118.7 penalty points. Both, Michael Knap and Szymon Nachotko completed the cross country with only time penalties but Alexander Kadłubowski had a fall on the last but one obstacle and was eliminated from the competition

Today's cross country proved to be a quite challenging for the young riders. Ten riders did not complete the competition and only 16 competitors were able to complete in the optimum time
