Blenheim Palace will provide the backdrop for the final of the new series in 2016
Rules and details of the new eventing series, the Event Riders Masters, approved by the FEI General Assembly in November 2015 are now available.
The Event Riders Masters is a new series set to start in 2016 which will link six existing CIC3* competitions in Great Britain - Chatsworth, Bramham, Barbury Castle, Gatcombe, Blair Castle and Blenheim in the first phase with expansion to include European events and a total of 12-15 competitions in 2017
The FEI is hoping to attract new audiences as well as those already interested in the sport by packaging the series specifically for television. The two day competition included at ecah event will comprise of dressage on the first day and show jumping followed by cross country on the second day, creating an exciting finish with the cross country phase when anything can happen
They are also hoping that the points system to be put in place will result in a rapidly changing leader board, keeping followers interested until the final event of the series at Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials in September
A maximum number of 40 competitors per competition will be invited based on their FEI rankings as well two wildcard entries being reserved for any Eventing Olympic Gold medal winner or 4* winner in the last 10 years and two places reserved for developing nations agreed annually with the FEI at the start of the season
And of course, the winner has to drive home in a brand new car! A prize pool of between £25,000 and £50,000 per event has been proposed while the series winner is likely to win a high level prize such as a car to the value of £50,000
